Robert Scoggins

Robert Scoggins has been involved in theatre and dance for 50 years. He began his training in dance at Southern Illinois University with Alcine Wiltz. He also studied in New York with Eric Hawkins, Carol Conway, Luigi and many other master teachers. He apprenticed with the Mary Anthony Dance Company where he had the pleasure of dancing Charles Weidman’s choreography. Scoggins worked closely with Modern American Dance Company (MADCo) as a dancer and choreographer for over thirty years. Additionally, four of his dances were performed in the gala concert at the American College Dance Festival, two of which were chosen to be performed in their national event. His dance Many Feet Bring Houses was performed at The Kennedy Center in 2002. Mr. Scoggins has been a guest teacher at numerous universities and his choreography has been seen throughout the United States and overseas. The University of Utah toured with two of his works, In My Life and Origins, in Australia.More recently, in Panama he worked with the Fundacion DanzaNova Panama and in Taiwan with the professional dance company Dance Exponent Five. His work has also been seen at the Triskelion Arts Theatre in New York.Scoggins has worked with television stars such as Stiller and Meara, Richard Klein from Three’s Company, Grant Goodeve from Eight Is Enough, Philip McKeon from Alice, John McCook From The Young and The Restless, director Joey Travolta, and he even worked with that wacky weatherman, Willard Scott. Though he is now retired, Scoggins worked in higher education for 30 years and locally was Director of Dance at Lindenwood University and at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. He has four daughters and lives in Overland, Missouri with his wife.
