Ensure our students have the opportunity to express themselves artistically by producing a student dance concert

In the world of dance education, CKDC offers something very unique. We do not participate in any competitions and there are no registration fees to join our program. We aim to raise our students as artists and all classes are taught from a concert dance perspective in a non-competitive environment. We want our students to feel comfortable in class so we don’t enforce a strict dress code. CKDC is very passionate about the environment. In a traditional dance studio, hundreds of costumes are purchased for students multiple times a year and these costumes range in cost between $85 and $200 per garment. These costumes accumulate in the students’ closets because they aren’t very versatile, so it’s an enormous expense for a one-time-use garment. At CKDC, we have a costume closet. This is great for our concert dance style training program because this is how professional companies costume works of art. Our students check out costumes from the closet and their families don’t have to worry about keeping, laundering or storing them. Every concert requires some new purchases so your support helps us cover all our dancers, especially students who are on full or partial scholarships. Your $5,000 gift covers the stipends we pay our artists and choreographers to share their time and talents for the Student Dance Concert production week. During production week, dinner is provided to all our students every night before our long rehearsals, so you also help fill tummies and keep our young artists strong and healthy. Your gift also ensures that each piece is thoughtfully costumed and can be showcased in a way that supports the physical, cognitive and emotional wellbeing of our students, and inspires pride in their pre-professional work. Your gift affords our technical team including our Master Electrician, Audio Engineer, Lighting Designer and light and sound board operators. Last, your support ensures that our students have the opportunity to perform in a real theater so they can see that they are taken seriously as young artists and parents can enjoy their hard work at the end of each semester.
