PATRICK COLSON

TEACHING ARTIST

(Pronoun: He, Him)

Initially inspired by dancers on television shows like America’s Best Dance Crew, Patrick started his dance journey as a self-taught dancer learning from YouTube tutorials. He started by learning specific popping techniques like waving and tutting, and dabbled with bboying.

As his skills and love for dance grew, he began to seek out a community of dancers to work with and learn from. This led him to join a variety of dance crews on campus at Stanford University where he was a student from 2009-2013. After leading and choreographing for student-run groups, he would branch out to the wider Bay Area dance community. Patrick really found his dance identity as a part of hip-hop dance crew Project M. With Project M, Patrick would compete in a variety of Bay Area events like Prelude Norcal and Evolution .

Patrick would go on to teach English in South Korea from 2014-2022, but kept dance as an integral part of his life. He auditioned for and joined the competitive team PX2 based out of TOZ Dance Center in Daegu. With PX2, Patrick performed in competitions across the country. One of his favorite memories with PX2 was placing 3rd at the 2015 Barak All-Dance Competition in Ulsan. In addition to PX2, Patrick led and choreographed for PX2i (PX2 international), a crew made up of foreigners living in Daegu interested in dance.

Throughout his dance career, Patrick has enjoyed teaching dance students of a variety of backgrounds and ability levels. He continues to share his passion for dance as a teacher at Pack Dance/CKDC in St. Louis.
